Originally from South Korea, She moved to Boston and studied with Wha Kyung Byun. She is the graduate of preparatory school of New England Conservatory of Music. Young Yoo received her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the Juilliard School as a student of Yoheved Kaplinsky. She is the recipient of Joseph Fidelman Scholarship and Vladimir Horowitz Scholarship in Juilliard.
She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician in Korea and the United States.
Her many awards and honors include second prize in the Grace Welsh International Piano Competition, First prize in the Harvard Musical Association Competition, Kingsport Symphony Competition, Orleans 20th century International Piano Competition in France and many solo and chamber music recitals at Gardner museum in Boston and NY. She also won many competitions in her native country, South Korea including first prize in Samick Piano Competition, New World Newspaper Competition.
She performed as a soloist at Jordan Hall with Youth Philharmonic
Orchestra of New England Conservatory. She participated Indiana
Piano Festival, Mozarteum Music Festival in Salzburg and Tanglewood
Festival.
She is currently a member of MTAC (Music Teachers Association of California), focusing on teaching and performing.
